Professor Nira Chamberlain OBE is Mathematical Modelling Technical Fellow for AtkinsR茅alis, a Visiting Professor at Loughborough University, and the Chair of the Black Heroes of Mathematics Conference.
He has over 30 years鈥 experience of mathematical modelling and developing algorithms that solve complex engineering and commercial problems all over Europe.
Nira was President of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications from 2020-2021, and President of The Mathematical Association in 2023.
A renowned maths communicator, Nira is a BBC Expert Voice and has delivered popular talks such as The Black Heroes Of Mathematics, The Mathematics That Can Stop An AI Apocalypse, Mathematics Is Indisputably The Greatest Subject In The World and Saving Aston Villa!
In 2018, he won the Big Math Off title, 鈥淲orld鈥檚 Most Interesting Mathematician鈥.
From 2005-2013, Nira studied a part-time PhD in Mathematics at the 兔子先生, which he was awarded at the 2014 graduation ceremony.
Nira was awarded an OBE for Services to Mathematical Sciences in 2022.
