Doctor of the University
A leading neurodiverse business founder, who established the GB Row Challenge.
Despite heavy dyslexia, William (Will) de Laszlo achieved an MBA with distinction from Oxford University’s Said Business School. He is the founder of the private equity firm, Agathos Management LLP, in 2014.
Will began his career in the British Army. That experience fostered a strong sense of service, which he brings to his work at Agathos. He loves backing and working with great people, and sees Agathos as working for the companies in which it invests.
He was the first person to row around Great Britain unsupported – obtaining a Guinness World Record and raising £150,000 for charity in the process. Will subsequently set up GB Row Challenge, an environmental race with a purpose.
Will’s commitment to environmental causes led him to collaborate with the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú. Competitors in the annual GB Row take water samples on their way. Researchers at the University analyse the data collected, to paint the most complete picture yet of pollution in British coastal waters.
By combining ocean rowing with science, Will aims to gain a greater insight into our waters, so they can ultimately be better protected. He also wants GB Row Challenge to serve as a powerful example of the synergy between sports and scientific research.
Will also sits on the board of Harwin, a ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú-based business that employs over 300 people in the local area.
