Dr Marine Joly
Summary
I am the Deputy Associate Head for Research and Innovation within the School of Psychology, Sport, and Health Sciences. Through this role I lead our strategic approach to the development of Research and Innovation activities for our research-active staff (about 100 colleagues). In addition, I am the Deputy Director of the Centre for Comparative and Evolutionary Psychology. I have a unique expertise in primate cognition with an international recognised profile. I am passionate about research sustainability and infrastructure, and together with my team of students, I contribute to several Big Team Science projects such as , , the and the . I regularly review for top tier journals in the discipline and for national grant funding agencies. I am an expert evaluator for the European Commission (Marie Sk艂odowska-Curie Actions).
Research interests
My research interests lie in the evolutionary dynamics of human and non-human primate behaviour and cognition. Among others, I have investigated the link between sociality and cognitive styles, socioecology and foraging decisions and movements, as well as executive functions (working memory, inhibitory control) and undelrying skills to cooperation in different species of non-human primates and in humans. I conduct my research in collaboration with zoo institutions (e.g. Monkey Haven, Isle of Wight; CERZA zoo, France) but also international partners in the field (e.g. Madagascar, Indonesia).

Teaching responsibilities
I am the coordinator of the 2nd year module 'Individual Differences and Psychometrics' where I teach most of the core lectures on Personality and Intelligence. This is a core unit for the Bsc (Hons) Psychology, BSc (Hons) Forensic Psychology and the BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Psychology.
I also teach in the 3rd year 'Cultural Psychology' module.
I am a personal tutor for the 1st year 'Exploring Psychology' module and the 2nd year 'Professional Development and Employability' module.
I supervised 3rd year students for their final year project.
