Further Information
If you’ve completed more than one eligible course, you can celebrate your achievements for each of your courses if they fall in the same year. You should receive an invitation from the Graduation Team to book a ticket for each course you have studied.
If you are studying at a partner institution on a collaborative programme, your institution may hold its own Graduation ceremony. The Graduation team will contact you if you are eligible to attend a graduation ceremony at the ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú.
If you have a query about your eligibility to attend a ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú graduation ceremony, please ask your home institution for more details, or contact the Graduation Team on graduation@port.ac.uk.
Unfortunately, if you have any outstanding tuition fees or other University-related debt, such as library fines or halls fees, you will not be able to attend graduation.
Any outstanding debt should be settled before 5 July 2024. You can make payments via your Student View online account. For further information and guidance on how to pay, please see our Make a Payment webpage. You can also contact the finance team by email at income@port.ac.uk, or by calling +44 (0) 23 9284 5533
We appreciate managing debt can be challenging and stressful. Support and advice is available from our Student Support Services team by contacting them at studentfinance@port.ac.uk or on 02392 84 3014.
We will consider requests to defer attendance at graduation in exceptional circumstances, such as (but not limited to):
- Bereavement
- Illness (you or a family member)
- Deployment
- Jury service
Deferral would usually only be granted for one academic year.
A deferral will not normally be granted due to attendance at other events (such as holidays).
Requesting a Deferral
If you are due to graduate this year you will be able to submit a deferral request when the MyGraduation booking system opens. You will need to provide evidence of exceptional circumstances and can upload supporting documents when you fill in the form.
If you wish to be considered for a deferral you should submit your request before the booking system closes.
If you were due to graduate last year and were unable to attend, please contact the graduation team to discuss your options.
The decision is made on behalf of the Academic Registrar and cannot be changed once it has been confirmed.
We appreciate that not all circumstances can be predicted. If you have any issues, after 30 June, that will affect your attendance at graduation, please contact the Graduation team as soon as you can.
