Join us for our interactive taster sessions and take part with members of our staff, in sessions on acting, musical theatre and devised theatre. These will be held in our excellent studio spaces in the White Swan Building, where you will get a sense of who we are and how we work. You'll work with theoretical concepts and apply them in practical sessions that are both instructive and fun. You will wrap up the session with the chance to answer any questions you may have.

Join us in our interactive workshop where we will explore basic animation techniques, using industry standard animation software like Maya and TVPaint. You will get hands-on, creating simple animation and find out more about the course, interacting with our academics where you will be able to ask any questions you have.

Join us for a fun and informative session in which we discover the detail of what life and study could look like for you at the 兔子先生 School of Architecture, Art and Design You will be welcomed by staff from the Architecture and Interior Architecture Course Leadership team to a short talk exploring the program, its modules and the many opportunities open to you. You will learn about the program鈥檚 distinctive qualities and the part you will play in your learning. You will test out our design studios - to discover the wonders of architecture and interior architecture.

Staff and students from the course will be on hand to assist you as you explore a design idea through modelmaking and there will be an opportunity to visit our 3D workshop. This is a friendly, informal session where you can discuss your knowledge, expectations and ask questions about studying architecture and interior architecture.

Meet some of our course team and students for an interactive session using our animation, modelling and VFX software. Try out some digital sculpting, used to create iconic characters and creatures in both film and games, and have a go at making your own animation shots.

This will give you not only a taster of what it is like to work here as a CAVE student at the 兔子先生 but hands on experience with our bespoke software and equipment. You will be assisted by our current students who will be there to answer any questions about the course and their experiences at 兔子先生.

Come and meet some of our passionate games team before getting a head start on your own game artist career with our hands-on workshop with professional, industry-standard 3D sculpting software. Get a taste of how we teach game art here at UoP and level up your game dev skills!

Join us as we dive into our computer games courses and start your journey as a game designer. During our workshop you will have hands-on experience with an industry-standard game engine, applying level design principles to the creation of an environment for a simple game guided by our teaching staff in this exciting levelling up experience.

This hands-on session, run by academic staff from the Creative Computing team, will ask you to design a computational solution to a real-world creative problem. Working together, we will review various approaches using both hardware and software before finalising a simple functional prototype.

We are aware that applicants have diverse backgrounds and prior knowledge; no experience with specific platforms or languages is necessary, and templates and examples will be provided.

Take a tour of our studio facilities as a refresher for those who visited on our open days and an introduction for 1st time visitors. From our Dobly ATMOS Studio to individual sound editing booths. Take part in our mixing workshop using our 72 fader Neve Genesys Black G96 mixing console. We will explore the various workflows possible in our studios ranging from "in the box" and "on the console" as well as "hybrid mixing" combining the two techniques which has become common in industry over the past few years. After the workshop join our teaching staff in a question and answer session relating to the course.

Meet members of the Creative Writing team, who are all novelists, poets, journalists and performers , as well as dedicated and experienced teachers, who will share their tips, tricks and techniques with you. Try out some of our writing workshop activities, from modules such as 'True Stories' and 'Telling Tales' ; and find out how you'll spend your time, drafting and crafting, dreaming up and polishing pieces of coursework, in our world of the imagination.

1st March & 22nd March - Join us in our drape and draw workshop, where you will be asked to draw from various objects and utilise the different drawing equipment in order to generate interesting marks, shapes and textures. You will then explore draping, pleating and manipulating fabric on a mannequin, focusing on various aspects of the body, taking your time and enjoying the creative process. You will use digital projection, to see how your drawings inform ideas for textiles ideas on the body, which can also inspire various shapes for fashion garments. You will be able to see some of the current student work and ask any questions you may have about the course.

 

26th April - Join us for an exciting practical workshop dedicated to exploring the boundless possibilities of biomaterials for your fashion and textiles projects. During this immersive workshop, you'll have the unique opportunity to engage in hands-on experimentation with biomaterials. Get ready to roll up your sleeves as you'll be asked to cook up your very own fashion materials! With the guidance of Lara and Vici, you'll experiment with recipes to create a stunning range of colourways for biomaterial embellishments. Don't worry if you're new to the world of biomaterials 鈥 no previous experience is needed. This workshop is designed to be inclusive and welcoming to all skill levels. Whether you're a seasoned fashion designer or simply curious about sustainable materials, this workshop promises to inspire and ignite your creativity. Join us for a morning of exploration, experimentation, and creativity. Take home your unique biomaterial creations and embark on a journey towards sustainable fashion innovation.

Join us for a three part workshop where we explore Circular Fashion Practice and turn into fashion detectives investigating who made our garments, materiality, where were they made and what are the social and economic effects. From here we will move on to the supply chain game, find out about linear versus circular business models for fashion and make your own circular economy pitch.

Finally we look for inspiration and write a fashion love story. Did you know the most sustainable garment is the one already in your wardrobe? Share your story and create digital content/social media post about a piece of clothing you already own that means a lot to you. Film it, photograph it, write it and give yourself a sense of where our course can take you.

AM Session: Jane Steventon hosts a session where the Magic of Screenwriting is scrutinised, from characterisation, narrative structure and dialogue tips, to a look at the global marketplace. This session will help you understand more about how we format and structure the blueprint for production: the script.

 

PM session: Experienced filmmakers Riyadh Haque and Bruce Webb will take you through a workshop where you'll get hands-on with camera, sound and lighting equipment, and understand the fundamentals of the shoot.

Next, we'll move into a dynamic group session where you'll analyze media texts and clips to see how they engage with current cultural, political, and social conversations. Come prepared to discuss, debate, and share your passion for film and media 鈥 it's going to be an engaging and thought-provoking session.

Meet members of the Global Communication and Media course team, who will provide an overview of this rare dual degree course. Then experience the interdisciplinary nature of the course by joining one of the following experiential sessions: Creative Writing, Journalism or Film Production.

Join us in making a miniature type specimen booklet. Firstly we will look at some classic typefaces and their usage in famous brands and logos. We will choose a letter and then trace and draw freehand onto the pages. We will then trim these pages to size and staple them together. We can also film the type booklet card and upload to a 鈥減adlet鈥 using a QR code. If you didn't already attend an open day - at 3pm we'll show you our course presentation and arrange a tour of the building.

Join us for a workshop based around making Illustrations to explore and reproduce patterns. We will then experiment and develop these patterns through a range of different colour applications. Join fellow photography students and faculty members in a studio workshop focused on exploring the rich materiality that defines our medium. Gain practical experience with our medium format digital cameras and studios, as you respond to and create a still life using materials inherent to the world of photography. Dive into our photographic stores and facilities to source objects, enabling a hands-on, conceptual journey into the materials available to our students.

This workshop offers a practical opportunity to work with various photographic materials and our studio environment, fostering a deeper understanding of their role in shaping visual narratives. After the workshop join our teaching staff in a question and answer session relating to the course.

Join us for a Post-Production taster session, where we explore taking media through the editing, colour grading, VFX and sound design process. You'll experience our post-facilities, meet some of the Post-Production staff team, work with specialist software and witness the progression of your camera media from production to the cutting room. For those who have not previously attended an open day, there will also be the chance for a tour of relevant facilities and a course/module breakdown.
